Holiday Light Storage in Knoxville, TN

When the season ends, we take your Christmas lights down, pack them with care and keep them in secure storage, ready for the following year. Your lights were custom-fit to your home, and we make sure they stay together.

Where do my Christmas lights go after the season?

After takedown, your lights do not end up in a box in your garage. We come back and remove all of the lights from your home, and then we put everything into our secure storage facilities, ready for the following year. Takedowns run by zones, take one day per home, and are all typically finished by the end of January.

Your lights are custom cut to your home, which is exactly why keeping them together matters. Every run of C9 bulbs was measured and fit to your roofline, so we store them as one set instead of mixing them in with anyone else's. That way the lights that made your house glow this year are the same ones waiting for next year.

You do not need to be home for takedown, and you do not need to find a place to put anything. We serve Knoxville and surrounding East Tennessee towns, and storage is part of how we look after your display from one season to the next.

The season cycle

One set of lights, season after season

Storage is not an extra step tacked on at the end. It is the part of the year that connects this season's install to the next one.

  1. Install

Lights go up in one day, exterior only, cut to fit your home.

  2. Enjoy

Your roofline glows all season, and minor maintenance is free if any lights stop working.

  3. Takedown

We take everything down by zones, one day per home, finished by end of January.

  4. Store

Your lights are packed away in our secure storage facilities.

  5. Reinstall

Next October or November, they go back up on your roofline.

Then the cycle starts again

Storage questions

Holiday light storage FAQ

What gets stored after the season?

After takedown, the custom-fit lights from your home are removed and packed away together, then moved into our secure storage facilities. Keeping your lights as one set matters because they were cut and measured for your home, so they are ready to go back up the way they came down.

Where are my lights kept?

Your lights are kept in Southern Lights secure storage facilities, not at your house. You do not need to find room in the garage, the attic or a shed. They stay with us through the off-season and are set aside for your home so they are ready for the following year.

Do I need to do anything?

No. Takedown and storage are exterior work, and you do not need to be home for either one. Takedowns run by zones, take one day per home, and are all typically finished by the end of January. Once the lights are down, we handle packing them away and keeping them safe.

When will my lights go back up next season?

Install dates are typically set in October or November. Once you place your order and the deposit is made, we set your date, and you can request a specific day if it is available. The season gets busy, so booking early gives you the best chance at the day you want.

What does storage cost?

We would rather look at your home and the lights you have before talking about cost. Use the Get a Quote button or call (865) 874-6621 and tell us about your roofline, and we will walk you through what storage looks like for your lights and how it fits with takedown and your next install.
