Holiday Light Removal in Knoxville, TN

When the season ends, the same Southern Lights crew comes back, takes your lights down in one day and puts them into secure storage, ready for next year. Exterior only, and you do not need to be home.

How takedown works

When do you take down Christmas lights in Knoxville?

Southern Lights takes holiday lights down by zones across Knoxville and surrounding East Tennessee towns. Each home gets one day: the crew arrives, removes the lights from your roofline, columns and yard, and leaves the exterior clear. All homes are typically finished by the end of January, and your date depends on the zone your home falls in.

The work is exterior only, and you do not need to be home for it, the same as install day. Once the lights are down they are packed and go into our secure storage, ready for the following year, so you do not have to find room for them in your garage or attic. Takedown pairs with the install: the lights are custom-fit to your home, and the same crew that put them up is the one that brings them down. Not sure which zone you are in? Ask when you book and we will tell you.

Why let us take them down

No ladders for you

The crew handles the ladders and, when the house calls for it, the boom lift. Your roofline, columns and yard are cleared without you climbing anything.

The same Southern Lights crew

Southern Lights handles the install and the takedown, so the people who work in our branded gear are the ones who know how your display went up.

One day, ready for storage

Takedown takes one day per home, exterior only. Your lights then go into our secure storage, ready for next year.

Holiday light removal questions

When do you take down Christmas lights in Knoxville?

Takedowns are done by zones, and all homes are typically finished by the end of January. Your exact date depends on the zone your home falls in. We do not need you home for it, and the work stays on the exterior. Ask when you book and we will tell you which window your zone is in.

How long does the takedown take?

Takedown takes one day per home. The crew arrives, removes the lights from the roofline, columns and yard, and leaves the exterior clear. Because the work is exterior only, nothing has to happen inside your house, and the day does not need to fit around your schedule.

Do I need to be home for the takedown?

No. Takedown is exterior only, and you do not need to be home for it, just like install day. Southern Lights schedules the one day for your zone, the crew does the work outside, and your lights are on their way to storage without you rearranging your day or meeting anyone at the door.

What happens to the lights after they come down?

After the season we come back, remove all the lights and put everything into our secure storage, ready for the following year. Your lights are custom-fit to your home, so keeping them together matters. You do not have to find space in your garage, attic or basement for any of it.

Can I keep my lights up longer?

Ask when you book. Takedowns run by zones and all homes are typically finished by the end of January, so timing depends on the schedule for your zone. If you would like your lights to stay up a little longer, tell us when you book or call (865) 874-6621, and we will tell you what is possible.

Ready for a clean, easy takedown?
