The full service

What does professional holiday lighting include?

Professional holiday lighting from Southern Lights is a full-service job, not a box of lights left on your porch. We plan the display around your home, then our crew in branded Southern Lights gear installs it in a single day with ladders and a boom lift. The work is exterior only, so you do not need to be home. Bulbs are C9, in warm white or multicolor, on green wire with 15 inch spacing, and every run is custom-fit to your roofline. From there we can add wreaths and bows, wrap columns and trees, and line the driveway with C9 lights on commercial-grade lawn stakes. If any lights stop working, minor maintenance is free of charge. When January comes, we take everything down and store it securely for next year.

  • One install day, set after your order and deposit.
  • Custom-fit to your home, not a one-size strand.
  • Maintenance, takedown and storage handled for you.

What's included

What's included in a Southern Lights display

Start with the roofline, then build up. Every piece is planned for your home and shown in your proposal before you book.

  • Two-story home with a warm white C9 roofline lit at night

    Custom-fit C9 roofline

The roofline is the heart of the display. We use C9 bulbs on green wire with 15 inch spacing, fitted to the length and shape of your home so the lines run clean along every edge.

  • Craftsman porch home with a multicolor C9 roofline at dusk

    Warm white or multicolor

Your proposal shows C9 bulbs in warm white or multicolor. Warm white is a calm, classic glow. Multicolor is the old-fashioned Christmas look. Pick the one that suits your brick, siding and trim.

  • White ranch home with green and red roofline lights and wreaths at night

    Wreaths and bows

Wreaths and bows finish the display at doors, windows and above the garage. Red bows and green wreaths add the final layer that makes a lit home feel finished from the street.

  • Columned Greek-revival house with garland-wrapped columns and roofline lights at night

    Wrapped columns and trees

Columns and trees can be wrapped in lights so the glow reaches the porch and the yard, not just the roof. We have wrapped white columns and lit a full columned Greek-revival house.

  • Two-story home with a white roofline and lit driveway stakes

    Driveway lights on lawn stakes

C9 driveway lights go up on commercial-grade lawn stakes, so the line stays straight along the drive and the beds and guides visitors up to your door.

  • Southern Lights crew member in a green boom lift lighting a tall home

    Free minor maintenance

If any lights stop working during the season, minor maintenance is free of charge. Call us, we come back, and your display stays complete from the first night to takedown.

How it works

From quote to takedown in five steps

One crew, one install day, and a plan for the whole season. Here is what to expect.

  1. Get a quote

Tell us about your home with the Get a Quote button. We put together a proposal that shows your bulb style, warm white or multicolor, and the parts of the house to light.

  2. Pay a 50% deposit

To book, pay a 50% deposit on any major credit or debit card. Your install date is set after your order and deposit. Lights are custom-fit, so a cancellation before install refunds the deposit minus a 30% restocking fee.

  3. Install day, Oct or Nov

Installs usually fall in October or November, and you can request a day if it is open. Our crew finishes in one day, exterior only. The balance is due on installation day, and you do not need to be home.

  4. Enjoy, with upkeep covered

Switch on and enjoy the season. If any lights stop working, minor maintenance is free of charge. Just let us know and we will come back to put it right.

  5. Takedown by end of January

We take the display down by zones, one day per home, all typically finished by the end of January. Everything goes into secure storage, ready for next year.

Questions

Holiday lighting questions, answered

How much does holiday lighting cost?

The price depends on your home: how much roofline there is to light, the bulb style you choose, and extras such as wreaths and bows, wrapped columns and trees, or driveway lights on lawn stakes. Every display is custom-fit. To book, you pay a 50% deposit on any major credit or debit card, and the balance is due on installation day.

What is included in a Southern Lights display?

Each display is custom-fit to your home with C9 bulbs in warm white or multicolor on green wire with 15 inch spacing. You can add wreaths and bows, wrapped columns and trees, and driveway lights on lawn stakes. We handle the installation, free minor maintenance if any lights stop working, takedown and secure storage for next year.

Which areas do you serve?

We serve Knoxville and surrounding East Tennessee towns, including Farragut, Hardin Valley, Karns, Oak Ridge, Lenoir City, Maryville, Seymour, Kodak and Dandridge. If your home sits near one of those towns, or you are not sure whether we reach you, send a quote request and we will let you know.

When will my lights be installed?

Install dates are usually in October or November. Your date is set after you place your order and pay the deposit, and you can request a specific day if it is open. The season gets busy, so booking early gives you the best choice of dates. Installation takes one day.

Do I need to be home for the installation?

No. The work is exterior only, and installation takes one day, so you do not need to be home while the crew works. The same goes for takedown. We handle the ladders and the boom lift, and the balance is due on installation day, so there is nothing you need to supervise.

What if a bulb goes out?

If any lights stop working during the season, minor maintenance is free of charge. Let us know through the Get a Quote form or by phone, and we will come back to fix the problem. Because the display is custom-fit and installed by our crew, you should not need to touch a ladder to keep it lit.

Ready to light up your home this season?

Request a quote and we will plan your display. Install dates fill in October and November, so booking early gives you the most choice.
